Revision of ICC Arbitration Rules in webinar spotlight
Paris, 16 June 2010

The ICC's Rules of Arbitration webinar will take place 23 June 2010 at 16:00 GMT +2

ICC International Court of Arbitration Secretary General Jason Fry and Francesca Mazza, Counsel and Secretary to the ICC Commission on Arbitration are set to impart their knowledge and share their experience in a one-hour, interactive webinar focused on the revision of ICC's Rules of Arbitration currently underway.

The current ICC Rules of Arbitration have been used to resolve over 7,000 disputes across the globe. The rules are undergoing revision to take into account changes and advances in the the fields of arbitration and information technology since entering into force in 1998.

"The ICC Rules of Arbitration have stood the test of time well," said Mr Fry. "However, the volume of international arbitrations has reached dimensions unknown prior to 1998. The rules could not have anticipated all of the evolutions that have emerged in the international arbitral process, nor the innovations that have appeared in contemporary arbitration practice."

The Task Force on the Revision of the ICC Rules of Arbitration was created in October 2008 to ensure that the Rules continue to meet the needs of their users, reflecting best practice in the field of international arbitration.

As members of the Drafting Sub-Committee of the Task Force on the Revision of the ICC Rules of Arbitration and members of the Court Secretariat, Mr Fry and Ms Mazza will explain the reasons for starting the rules revision process, the procedure for the revision of the Rules and the current status, and give examples of changes currently being debated.

The webinar will take place on 23 June at 16.00 GMT +2 and will appeal to practicing lawyers, corporate counsel, arbitrators or any other professionals with experience in the field of dispute resolution.

It guarantees a live and interactive learning experience for all participants who will be able to ask questions and get answers in real time.
